Panama is a country well know for shopping travel or tourism. And the cheapest place to do shopping in Panama is the free zone located in the city of Colon.
But there is a but, if you want to save on your retail purchases, it would be better to go to a Mall or Shopping Center in Panama City, you will spend an entire afternoon with a variety of options without additional transportation costs. You are also free to do shopping in stores if you are looking for something specific.
The Free Zone is an interesting option only if you are going to buy in quantity. Normally, the best prices are found at the beginning of the year, in Panama prices raise at the end of the year because of holidays, so prices are usually cheaper from October to December.

The advantage of shopping in a mall is that you probably have several stores that sell the same products. So, you can check prices and compare them, since they vary from one store to another. Do not be afraid to ask for a discount in Panama, buyers, especially visitors, can often have the possibility to negotiate. The worst that can happen is that they tell you “The price is already reduced”. But sometimes you can get an additional discount or added value. Normally stores, regardless of the season, have sales ongoing. Check out the discounted items first. There is always something interesting.
There is also a store in Panama named Gran Morrison, they sell various categories of goods like books, gifts, souvenirs, jewelry, clothes, frames, art materials, papers, crafts, etc. it is worth giving them a check.
